Our dogs haven't really been very funny the last couple of day. They've been busy eating, going outside to run and do their business and my favorite romp in the muddy mess that is currently my backyard. I'll share with you a photo from a few months ago.

Our old man...Oscar...he won't allow you to cut his toe nails...he chews them off himself.

Tequila at the Vet's

A couple of weeks ago we had to take Tequila to the vet's. A couple of days prior she had the runs in the middle of the night, it stunk so bad it woke me up from a dead sleep. I got up and let her outside while I cleaned up the mess and sprayed a lot of air freshener. I didn't think anything of it until the next day, she was vomiting and got really shaky for about an hour. Then she seemed okay. The next morning I went to my basement to wash a load of laundry, when I discovered that she had snuck down there and had a few accidents on the floor that looked like nothing but blood. I immediately made her an appointment. Since she was acting okay I waited until the following day when they could get her in.

It's a mad house here whenever you get out a leash...they all start running and howling and they all think they are going somewhere. I was able to get a stool sample hot out of the dog to take in to the vet's, since it had firmed up again. So I have a zip-locked bag of poop in a plastic grocery bag trying to wrestle the dog I needed out the door. She is thin and petite, but pulls like a dang ox. I almost fell trying to hold onto her and get her into the van, since the sidewalk was all icy and she was pulling like her life depended on it.

We finally arrive at the vet's and as we waited in the lobby she was checking out the life size Great Dane statue in the corner. She was sniffing it all over making friends with it. The receptionist had taken her stool to the back for the Doctor to check. She asked me if I could of brought a smellier sample. It was bad...kinda had like a burnt rubber smell to it. She then proceeded to ask what kind of food she was eating. I told her Alpo Prime Cuts. She then looked puzzled and asked if we lived on a farm, since they found an oat seed in the stool and they wondered where she could of ate it. I then had to tell the lady that Tequila had felt it necessary to sample the hamster food a few days prior while I had the lid off the container while I was feeding the hamster. She said that explained it with a laugh.

Tequila was diagnosed with worms and given medicine. She is now feeling better and acting like a nut again. She is worse than the puppy. She has been chewing stuff up and extra hyper. The other day she almost knocked my husband over. She was so excited he was home that she sprung off the couch like a rocket and directly into his chest throwing him back a few steps.
We are having a lovely snow storm today. My lucky daughter got a snow day and is still in her nice cozy bed. I'd like to be happily sawing logs myself, but Oscar decided that he just couldn't wait any longer and at 7:45a.m. was whimpering in my ear. At first I thought it was because he wanted to get in the bed and Tequila was in his spot. I made her move hoping that he would get in the bed and shut up. He hardly ever gets up that early. Usually he doesn't come downstairs to go out until at least noon. However, that was wishful thinking. He wanted outside, which he communicated by still yipping in my ear and a head motion toward the door when I looked at him.

Oscar on the bed, this is how he likes to sleep.

I was not impressed since I had just gotten back into a nice sleep from the 6a.m. phone call recording from the school saying that school was canceled and getting up to go across the room to turn off the alarm clock. I did not want to get up, but figured I better for fear that he would just do his business in the room.

I would of gone back to bed after letting the dogs out, but it's snowing like mad out there and it's cold. The snow and the air hit me when I opened the door and I was awake. The dogs have since come back inside...they went back to bed!

I'm 31 years old and have had pet's my entire life. Me and my husband laugh and say we get the defective ones. They are crazy, but we love them. Our current dogs have kept up with the tradition of making us laugh, and there are plenty of stories of past pet's that linger fondly (some not so fondly) in our memories. I've been wanting to start a blog for awhile to put down some of what they do.

Currently we have 3 dogs.

Oscar is a 10 year old German Shepherd mix. We suspect he may be mixed with coyote, but we got him as a stray so we can't confirm it. He is our resident senior citizen, with his arthritis and barely moving all day. He holds down the couch.

Tequila, she is a 1 1/2 -2 year old German Shepherd mix...we adopted her from a young man that was told by his parent's that he had to get rid of her. He said if we didn't take her that day he was going to have to shoot her. I was a little afraid of her at first since she acted like she might want to eat me, but that only lasted until we got her in the car. She is a super loving dog with a ferocious bark. I love the sound of her bark.

Daisy is our puppy. She was born on June 5, 2010, and was the result of a stray lab hooking up with my Uncle's pretty mutt. She looks to be a yellow lab mix, and is by far the best puppy I've ever had. We brought her home when she was only 4 weeks old. Her Momma wasn't feeding her anymore. She's been completely house broke since about 5 1/2 months old. She also doesn't do a lot of chewing except for her bone. She put a few teeth marks on the rung of my wooden chair, ate the rubber off the toe of one shoe, a fan cord and my laptop cord that was too close to her crate, and she pulled it in while we were away. I can't believe she is almost 9 months old already. :(

We also have 3 cats...Ziggy, Goof, and Sasha. Two hamsters Peggy and Cocoa. Plus one Anole Lizard named Blenda.
